Berkeley, CA – December 4, 2009 – January 30 2010

Alphonse Berber Gallery is pleased to announce ‘New Images of Man and Woman,’ a group exhibition of three iconic Bay Area figurative artists, Nathan Oliveira, Stephen de Staebler and William Theophilus Brown as well as five younger artists, featuring Ursula O’Farrell, Frances Lerner, Ryoko Tajiri, Marianne Kolb and Michael Ryan Noble. Like their paradigmatic forebears, the younger artists in this exhibition create art which addresses the human condition. They continue and expand the traditional mediums of painting and sculpture with manifest and innovative energy.

Located in a beautiful 7200 sq. ft. Julia Morgan-designed building across from the University of California, the gallery presents the work of dynamic, aggressively innovative emerging to mid-career contemporary artists. With each exhibition, the interior space is re-imagined in order to craft the ideal vehicle for showcasing a diverse range of genres and mediums.
