Package design is the science, art and management of delivering a product at the hand of the consumer. Design concepts in packaging involve the technical aspects (how the product should be there inside the package and how it should be handled), the art (the creativity involved in the physical design) and the branding of the product. An attractive and thoughtfully done packaging simply means that the manufacturer cares for the consumer.
To design a package, the designer considers various aspects such as physical and barrier protection, containment, information or guideline, marketing, convenience and security of the product. Packaging is the ultimate identity of the product and a direct marketing tool that carries the brand-value of the product when the product travels from the manufacturer’s plant to the consumer’s hands.
