Perfection Architectural Systems appointed to assist in a $58 million school project

Perfection Architectural Systems (www.perfectionarch.com), a leader in engineered canopy solutions, is pleased to have contracted with Willis A. Smith Construction to complete Booker High School's reconstruction project in Sarasota, Florida.

The $58-million project encompasses a comprehensive design for a new school, five new buildings, and major renovations to five other buildings. Because of ongoing growth in the student body, a more accommodating cafeteria and media center will be constructed. The centerpiece of the project will be a two-story main classroom building that will be sectioned off into specific "communities", providing educational opportunities for students with similar interests such as technology or science.

Perfection Architectural Systems was selected for the project to assemble various aluminum structures on the high school premises. The following are the additions Perfection will provide:

• A 4,500 square foot dining area in the school's courtyard

• A large courtyard canopy that will run through the interior of the campus and join to all of the major buildings, creating an environment where students and faculty feel more "connected".

• An architectural sunshade canopy that will be located at the entrance of the new VPA Theatre.

• A new bus loop canopy and separate parent pick-up canopy on opposite sides of the campus that will provide shade and protection from the weather for students waiting to be picked up.

"We are looking forward to working with Willis A. Smith Construction to rebuild campus pride in the Sarasota community," says Rob Jones, Business Development Manager for Perfection Architectural Systems. "Contributing to the new state-of-the-art developments at Booker High School is very exciting".

A ceremony for the two-year project's start commenced on January 26th, 2011. The scheduled year of completion is 2013. In addition to the project making traveling around campus easier, the project will also enhance campus security. Construction will focus on a central courtyard to enable the school staff to monitor campus activities and any visitor access.
